David Mark Williams: Profile

Under the name Mark Williams, he began writing poetry when he was 16 and soon became published widely in numerous small press magazines.

In the 1980s he emerged as a performance poet. While living in Cardiff, he was a founding member of Cabaret 246, a literary performance group, and performed regularly at local venues, including Chapter Arts Centre and The Sherman Theatre.

When he moved to London he was invited to become part of a collective known as Angels of Fire, performing at such venues as the National Poetry Society, the ICA and the Festival Hall.

In 2005, he found his poetry was taking a radically different direction, so decided to relaunch himself as David Mark Williams. Wide recognition swiftly followed through publications of his work and memorable performances.
